As I write, I sit in a South African prison, not as a prisoner, but as a therapist. . I have only been here an hour-and-a-half but have already spent an hour with my first offender client in the sweltering heat of the group therapy room. It is hard to believe that only three weeks ago I experienced the worst winter the UK has seen in 20 years. |

Urumqi As I prepared for the trip to Urumqi and the Ancient Silk Road, I didn’t expect much scenery. What beauty could there possibly be in a dry, desert-place like Urumqi? But great was my surprise when I saw Urumqi and the majestic mountains as we flew toward the city. Urumqi is truly like an oasis in the desert (a very busy and developed oasis). |

 For twelve weeks a group of friends from Amsterdam travelled from China to Jerusalem along the Silk Road. In that time they reached out to people in nine different countries. As staff and students stepped out in faith and obeyed God’s voice, they had the privilege of discovering many treasures stored up in the nations along the Silk Road. Treasures hidden in culture, tradition and in many human hearts… |

Some friends of mine and I had the privilege of serving in the Sichaun earthquake affected area this past Summer. I personally could not go into the heart of the quake zone myself, being sick and all. But my friends could. A local family had a favourable arrangement with the government, and the members of our team were allowed to go and help with an education project.  |
